Our main desire is to help move people into an authentic relationship with Jesus by helping people experience the love of God in a real and personal way (Pursue God), sharing the hope of Jesus by serving people and our community with compassion (Share Hope), and building friendships in groups that find answers together to life’s challenges (Build Community).

Executive Pastor Job Description

Overview:

The Executive Pastor is to lead the Impact staff to be able to resource and equip the various teams of Impact so they can help people take next steps with Jesus. The primary focus is on the church as a whole with the emphasis on shaping and coordinating the future vision of the church. This position leads the daily operations which includes the finance team, human resources, The Landing, special events, facilities, ministry teams, and communications.  This role also encourages the staff team to work cohesively and provides direction to the staff to complete the objectives of the Lead Pastor’s vision for the church. The ability to lead others to reach their potential in time, talents, and resources is valuable to this position. Skills include setting long-term strategy and direction, the ability to assess and manage high level risks (internal and external), handling multi-level communication and the key ability to develop people and teams.

The Executive Pastor will serve in a role to:

  • Lead the mission of helping people take next steps with Jesus by developing disciples who make disciples by guiding people through The Core Steps.
  • Protect and filter decisions through Impact’s communication plans based on our vision and values.
  • Work collaboratively with the Lead Pastor to move strategic plans forward.
  • Resource, guide, and empower the staff of Impact.
  • Lead the way on culture building with the Impact staff.

Leading the Staff:

  • Hire, fire, and lead a growing team of Jesus-loving, ministry centered Pastors and Staff.
  • Lead a culture according to the vision, values, and mission of Impact.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings. Ensure tasks are executed.
  • Oversee and hold accountable team members for their goals each term.
  • Be a leader, surround yourself with leaders and do what only you can do (delegate the rest).
  • Build the leadership pipeline of residents, interns, and future staff.

Staff Development:

  • Lead the goals, objectives, and focus of all-staff meetings.
  • Serve as the de facto leader of Impact in the absence of the Lead
  • Lead Human Resources to do regular staff engagements, trainings, surveys, exit interviews, and culture conversations.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with organizations and other churches.

Facility:

  • Involvement in major capital improvement projects.
  • Serves as leader of building branding including architectural design, imaging, and major signage.

Budgeting:

  • Works with the Treasurer to develop a yearly budget that is consistent with the goals and objectives of Impact.
  • Holds staff and ministry teams accountable to their budgets.
  • Provides consistent status updates to the Lead Pastor, staff, and Elders into the financial standings of the church.

The Executive Pastor needs to:

  • Develop and maintain own relationship with Jesus to live above reproach.
  • Be aligned with the beliefs, mission, and vision of Impact; and participate in the Core Steps of Impact.
  • Maintain a Christ-honoring lifestyle marked by servanthood, generosity, joy, love for Bible study, and prayer.
  • Have a growing passion to shepherd others in their walk with God and to work effectively with many key leaders is necessary.
  • Integrity in finances, relationships, and time management is expected.
  • Must have leadership competencies in team building, vision-casting, training staff, and training leaders for ministry.
  • Needs to have the ability to thrive in fast-moving environments; excellent working knowledge of the Bible; tactical thinker with proven ability to equip leaders and organize functional structures; transformational leader of leaders; effective communicator to adults of all ages; able to connect multi-cultural and multi-generational.
