How to Prepare
For new dancers: Parents, please keep your kids’ toe nails clipped short or dance shoes will become very uncomfortable. If you are taking your child to the nail salon for a pedicure, please tell the nail technician not to scrape calluses off of your child’s feet. Calluses are important in building a natural pad on the foot for dancing.
For everyone: While everyone is expected to have positive hygiene and use deodorant, please use a neutral, fragrance-free deodorant. A general rule in the performing arts is to not wear perfumes or deodorants in order to be respectful of anyone who might struggle with scent-related sensitivities. Thank you!

A Note to Parents when purchasing proper dance attire:
Professionalism and modesty are important to us! Please make sure you are purchasing solid color leotards (girls) and solid color t-shirts (boys) without mesh or holes. Leggings for girls should also be solid without mesh, holes, and are sold by a dance or sports company so they are not see-through. Jazz pants for boys can be purchased at a dance store.
- Ballet slippers are best if they are ‘split-sole’.
- Jazz shoes should be full-footed, not cut out.
