But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

There is a silent gravity that pulls our affections toward whatever we accumulate. When

Jesus warns about earthly treasures, He is not offering a lesson in household economics.

He is diagnosing the most intimate part of the soul. The heart is not an autonomous

entity that decides what to love in a vacuum; it follows, with docile and dangerous

"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!"

Generosity does not begin with the opening of hands, but with the purity of gaze. In the

imagery of the Gospels, the expression "healthy eyes" denotes a posture of openness,

generosity, and compassion toward others and the things of the world, while "unhealthy

eyes" represent the greed, envy, and stinginess that see scarcity in everything. What we

Jesus does not say that it is inadvisable, difficult, or disadvantageous to divide loyalty

between God and material wealth; He declares that it is strictly impossible. The Aramaic

term Mammon personifies money as a voracious deity, endowed with its own liturgy,

promising absolute protection, status, and transcendence in exchange for the

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"

The chronic worry that consumes modern days is nothing more than practical atheism

disguised in the respectable clothing of caution. By pointing to the birds that cross the

skies of Galilee and to the unpretentious beauty of wild lilies, Jesus summons creation as

a witness to the cosmic generosity of the Father. Anxiety tries to convince us that we are

The exhortation to seek the Kingdom first does not operate as a magical prosperity

formula, but as a principle of existential reordering. The contemporary person runs

anxiously after survival, prestige, and security, inverting the sacred hierarchy of things.

The man who discovers the treasure buried in the field and the merchant who comes

Day 8 • What Will Outlive You?

Psalm 78:1-4 (NIV)
"My people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth. We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done."

Biblical faith is not a secret to be kept in vaults of private contemplation; it is a living,

vibrant, and embodied narrative, meant to echo from mouth to mouth across the

centuries. The psalmist warns us about the gravity of omission: to remain silent about

God's redemptive acts before our children amounts to withholding from them the very

Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands."

God designed the transmission of faith as a continuous generational chain, a lineage of

trust flowing from era to era, overcoming the natural decay of human history. The

pedagogical purpose of biblical revelation is not the mere accumulation of information in

Not everything that precedes us carries the mark of holiness; there are inheritances of

Genesis 12:1-3 (NIV)

Day 11 • What Will Outlive You?

Genesis 12:1-3 (NIV)
"The Lord had said to Abram, 'Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.'"

The calling of Abraham reveals the fundamental mechanics of divine favor: God never

blesses someone for the gift to end inactive in the original recipient. The call demands an

exile, a courageous abandonment of comfortable territorial and familial zones, with the

ultimate horizon of blessing upon all the families scattered across the face of the earth.

For Reflection:

There is an ancient wisdom that recalls: a society achieves its moral greatness when older

people plant trees under whose shade they know full well they will never sit. Spiritual

maturity frees us from the tyranny of immediate results and teaches us to act with the

deep patience of the Kingdom's sowers.

The theme that titles our campaign — Beyond Us — did not spring from the void of a

covenant. The proclamation of the mighty deeds of the Lord is a sacred relay race, in

2 Samuel 24:18-21 (NIV)
"On that day Gad went to David and said to him, 'Go up and build an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.' David went up, as the Lord had commanded, through Gad. When Araunah looked and saw the king and his officials coming toward him, he went out and bowed down before the king, his face to the ground. Araunah said, 'Why has my lord the king come to his servant?' 'To buy your threshing floor,' David answered, 'so that I can build an altar to the Lord, that the plague on the people may be stopped.'"

Araunah's threshing floor was the space of daily labor, the beaten ground where sheaves

of wheat were threshed so the chaff would separate from the grain under the weight of

animals and the wind. It is precisely in this place of labor, dust, and material production

that the Lord orders the construction of a sacred altar. What was ground of commerce and

Your Majesty, Araunah gives all this to the king.' Araunah also said to him, 'May the Lord your God accept you.' But the king replied to Araunah, 'No, I insist on paying the full price. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.' So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels of silver for them."

David's response to Araunah's generous offer encapsulates one of the most compelling

ideas in all of biblical theology: worship that costs nothing is mere empty sentimentality.

To offer God only what is leftover, what is not missed, or what is given by the courtesy of

others strips the sacrifice of its ethical essence and its spiritual dignity.

Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, 'Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything — all she had to live on.'"

The attentive gaze of Jesus on the treasury completely deconstructs the utilitarian

mathematics of the world. The Lord does not measure the relevance of the offering by the

nominal value stamped on the metal, but by the exact proportion between what is given

and what is kept in the pocket. In the eyes of men, the large sums of the Pharisees were

[...] Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, 'Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.' So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten."

The rational calculation of the disciples before the hungry multitude expressed the

Jesus uses the metaphor of civil engineering to confront the superficiality of those who

People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own."

The greatness of the heroes of biblical faith did not consist in the immediate enjoyment of

all earthly promises, but in the mystical capacity to sight them on the distant horizon of

history and greet the coming fulfillment with a peaceful heart. They walked upon the dust

of this earth marked by the holy nostalgia of a home that physical eyes had not yet

For Reflection:

  • Has your heart been resting in the passing conveniences of this life, or do you cultivate the holy expectation of the
  • heavenly homeland?
  • How does the awareness that earthly life is a brief pilgrimage help you to be more detached and generous with
  • your resources?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that we are sojourners and strangers in this passing world. May the longing for Your dwelling free us from putting down roots in the vanities of earth and make us generous in serving Your people. Amen.

"Instead, they were longing for a better country — that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them."

There are few declarations in Holy Scripture as dazzling and moving as this one: God is not

ashamed to be called their God. The Sovereign Creator of the cosmos, before whom

angels cover their faces, associates His eternal honor with the journey of wandering men

and women who lived in tents and surrendered worldly comfort out of love for His

Prayer:

Holy God, what immense grace to know that You are not ashamed to be our God when we walk by faith. Grant us to live with such audacity and detachment that Your glory shines in all our communal actions. Amen.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

At the end of all human accounts, the vast majority of what today consumes our time, our

energy, and our anxiety will be swallowed by the dust of historical forgetting. Luxurious

cathedrals end up as ruins, economic empires vanish in the dust of centuries, and the best

administrative strategies go out of fashion. Only the sacred triad remains forever.

For Reflection:

  • In which realities have you been investing your vital energy: in things that pass with time, or in those that remain
  • for eternity?
  • In what practical way can your contribution to our church expansion be a pure expression of love for God and
  • neighbor?

Prayer:

God of Love, teach us the wisdom of investing in that which never perishes. May our faith be active, our hope unshakable, and our love generous, manifesting Your Kingdom through all that we build. Amen.

Hebrews 11:1-2; 12:1-2 (NIV)

Hebrews 11:1-2; 12:1-2 (NIV)
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. [...] Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith."

We arrive at the apex of our devotional journey before the monument of apostolic faith.

The gallery of saints of old did not conclude their pilgrimage fully enjoying the earthly

promise, for it pleased God that they would only reach perfection together with us. We

are the living continuation of that same sacred history; we are surrounded by that cloud

For Reflection:

  • Before all that God has spoken to your heart in these four weeks, what will be your commitment to the Beyond Us
  • campaign?
  • How do you wish to be remembered by the future generations of believers who will gather in this place to worship
  • God?

Prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ, Pioneer and Perfecter of our faith, we surrender to You the totality of our lives, our resources, and our future. Use our humble offering to build an eternal legacy of salvation for Your sovereign glory. Amen.

We arrive at the apex of our devotional journey. We are not building for our own enjoyment. We are building for children not yet born, for families not yet reached, for distant neighbors not yet invited, and for precious lives that will be rescued by the Gospel in the coming decades.
